Welcome to Curriculum and Instructional Services! Our mission is to provide the best possible support to all customers including students, parents, teachers, counselors, administrators, support staff, business partners, community members, K-8 elementary school teachers, administrators and staff, and college and university faculty and staff served by the Roseville Joint Union High School District. 

Curriculum and Instructional Services is responsible for all of the professional working relationships, processes and policies of the district's learning delivery system, including:

  • Development, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the district's curriculum including College/Career Readiness expectations, specific district graduation requirements, programs and certifications of distinction, and alignment of requirements and expectations with the California State graduation requirements.
  • Student achievement and learning processes and applied learning activities, student performance standards, and research-based instructional practices/accountability.
  •  Development of short and long-term planning for transition to Common Core and College/Career Readiness for students, teachers, and community.

  • Development and monitoring of district academic innovations and grants in International Baccalaureate, Advanced Placement, IB Career Certification, UC/AG courses, Seal of Biliteracy, Advancement Via Individual Determination, Project Lead the Way, Blended Learning, Credit Recovery, Partnership Academies, Career Technical Education Programs of Study, articulation agreements, and concurrent graduation requirement options.

  • Professional development training for district teachers and support staff including staff development, new teacher orientation, beginning teacher support and assessment, response to intervention, positive behavioral interventions and support for at-risk students.

  • Maintenance and reporting of Consolidated Application and Reporting System (CARS), Local Education Agency Plan (LEAP), Single School Plans for Student Accountability (SSPSA), and categorical program updates (currently Local Control Funding Formula).

  • Assessment and evaluation processes including the Common Core State Standards assessments (CCSS), Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) program, American College Testing (ACT) program, Advanced Placement (AP), Early Assessment Program (EAP), District Writing Assessment (DWA), the California State University English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry Level Mathematics (ELM) testing programs, and Gates-MacGinitie Testing.

  • Leadership and management of the district's Curriculum and Instruction Leadership Team (CILT), Common Core Advisory Team (CCAT), and new learning organization governance process.

  • Educational and business articulations including Sierra Community College classes, Regional Occupation Program (ROP) courses, internships, apprenticeships, job training, job shadowing, academies, etc. Business partnerships include many businesses and business groups in the greater Sacramento/Placer County region, including Education for the Next Economy (NextEd - formerly LEED) and BECOME (Business, Educators & Community Organized to Maximize Education).

  • Maintenance and reporting of student data and information California Basic Education Data System (CBEDS), Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC), California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS), Perkins Grant and Program Improvement (PI).

  • Monitor and manage student data and assessment technology: Illuminate, Accelerate, Aventa, Aeries, Blackboard and California Technology Assistance Project (CTAP).

  • Course development and adoption: NCAA, UC A-G, Independent Program, Credit Recovery.

  • Management of Instructional Materials in accordance with California Education Code, including textbooks and technology.
